For the past 16 years motorcyclists from all over Russia and the the whole world come to Samara region at the end of January to participate in the event called 'Snow Dogs', a winter motorcycle rally where people celebrate their passion for the snow covered road, roar of the motor and freedom.

‘Snow Dogs’ is the first motorcycle rally in Russia that was established in 2004. All the activities during the festival weekend are related to winter motorsports, specifically winter motorcycling. The most unique part of the even is participants racing on so-called ‘unimotos’ - self-made motorbikes equipped with one wheel and an engine. In addition, organisers award racers based on the distance they travelled during the year and more complex routes they managed to ride through. There is a whole system of rankings and titles for racers in order for them to establish themselves in the community and get inspired to challenge each other more. Development and popularisation of motorsports, fortification of international sports relations and attracting people to winter sports activities are the main fundamentals of the rally's organisers. Pursuing these, the rally got a grand prize and funding at Russian Event Awards for the best sport event in 2015.

In the current times of political and economic changes in Russia events like this help culture stay afloat not only by contributing to local tourism and sports, but also by bringing passionate people from different financial, educational and social backgrounds together.
