SILVER STORIES is about the stigma 'old' and the feeling of having an expiring date as a woman, as a person, as a human being. Women are still mostly respected for their beauty and fertility and that gets deep under their skins. It's like women get an expiring date far before men do.

I wanted to explore what being a modern elderly women means by using documentary photography. I chose to follow 3 women around 65 or older in their daily lives.

I looked for dynamic women who are still actively being part of society and who have found different solutions to cope with their possibilities and limitations.

I photographed them in their privacy, doing what is important to them with the people who are the most important to them. I tried to let them tell their own story as much as possible. I recorded audio interviews about their feelings about the lives they have now. To me it is really important they all feel the story I am telling about them is authentic.

I am interested in inspiring the viewer. To see these women being themselves. Not looking for youth but for expressing themselves in their own way. Always starting new projects, meeting new people, learning new things.
