For many, Lake Balaton is a place of leisure and summer memories – postcard sunshine and crowded beaches. This photo series presents the quieter, lesser-known side of the lake, near the iconic echo of Tihany.
Far from the noise and the bustle, the images seek to capture the calm and sometimes melancholic atmosphere of the lakeshore, highlighting the details we often overlook.
The compositions show everyday objects and places from a new perspective, revealing their subtle features and hidden beauty. An abandoned boat, the playful geometry of shadows, a row of empty sun loungers – all traces of stories we can only sense, but never fully know.
With this series, András Á. Cséfalvay aims to gently document the quiet encounters between people and the landscape, reflecting on themes of presence and absence. These photographs are a quiet meditation on how Lake Balaton is always more than what first meets the eye.
