Siempreviva

Siempreviva is a path of personal exploration, where self-portrait and landscape merge to uncover my emotions, following the transformative experience of motherhood.

A year after becoming a mother, I experienced a feeling of emptiness. On the one hand, I felt love and happiness, and on the other, I felt my own dreams and interests fading. I was no longer the dreamy, vibrant Sara I had been before. Something inside me had changed.

Siempreviva is a path of personal exploration, where self-portrait and landscape merge to uncover my emotions after the transformative experience of motherhood.

During this time, I read a quote by Alexander Den Heijer that resonated strongly with me: "You often feel tired, not because you have done too much, but because you have done too little of what lights a light within you."

Lighting a light within myself was what I needed at that moment, and photography has been the bridge to my inner self. Looking at myself through the camera's viewfinder and applying the double exposure technique, I experiment with combining black and white and color images. The absence of pigment suggests a lack of motivation, while the color lilac expresses life, as in psychology it is associated with the world of emotions, spirituality, and women.

Immortelle is, ultimately, a reminder of the need to stop and look within, listen to ourselves, and reconnect with our own essence, as well as a legacy for my own daughter.
