Sick Of Being Ready

Blurred analog portraits made during a period where tenderness and emotional collapse existed side by side.

Sick of Being Ready is an ongoing series of portraits and self-portraits made during a period when closeness, escape, and emotional exhaustion existed side by side.

Two of the images are self-portraits. The others are portraits of two of my closest friends. We were moving through a fragile period where love, vulnerability, tenderness, and self-destruction often overlapped without resolution.

These photographs were not staged to explain anything. They grew out of real moments — nights, silence, conversations, exhaustion, and the strange intimacy that appears when people allow themselves to be seen without pretending.

Shot on analog film, the images carry blur, grain, and imperfection. The series began when I started revisiting hundreds of negatives from the time I first approached photography as an art form.

The title Sick of Being Ready hints at the feeling of becoming exhausted by performance, survival, and self-destruction — and sometimes choosing them anyway.
