Selvatica is an autobiographical testament of contradictions and conflicts born from the unsaid and censorship. Delving into the complexities of memory and identity through an enigmatic photograph, it draws with delight an horizon reborn in sincerity.
A tiny undergarment etched on a photo that captures my one-year-old self, seated bare on the kitchen table at home. It emerges as a veiled enigma that has threaded its mystery through the geometries of my childhood.
Why this singular image, among all of those within our family albums, was subjected to such a curious treatment? An intervention made in the language of protection and love, yet lacking explanations, opening a void upon the canvas of my emancipation. Affecting not only the realm of my sexuality, but also the physical and relational landscapes.
This project is an autobiographical testament of contradictions and conflicts birthed from the unsaid, censorship, all those things we unconsciously absorb during the formative years, but that no one has the courage to explain. Concealment proves more insidious than revelation; judgment, a more grievous affliction than understanding.
