Sciara

This project sets an imaginary narrative in a closer dystopian future where an ever-increasingly hostile climate and environment has forced humans to a constant migration in order to survive.

Following a group of survivors, we board on a metaphorical journey enduring through climate adversities in a range of prehistoric and lunar-looking landscapes.

By engaging in ritualistic dances evoking nature’s patterns and structures, the subjects aim to finally reconnect and commune with Mother Earth, seeking shelter on their mutual physical connection.

Shot on the volcanic plains and glacier-like caves of Mount Etna, this series aims to stimulate awareness on the ways climate change may affect our life in the future.

Sciara, is the Sicilian word for the path/stream of lava after the eruption.

A dry element where nature struggles to flourish.
