These works were done as a part of the residence program organized by Roman Pyatkovka in Nuremberg in September 2022.
The main goal of the residence was to provide a safe space and support Ukrainian artists, thus, the topic was ‘Body in the space of well-being (safe space)’. Interestingly, all participants were artists and each other models at the same time. Photos, created there to reflect the inner state, additionally showed the real faces (and bodies) of Ukrainian photographers. And despite the peaceful surroundings, beautiful places, and atmosphere of well-being this only underlined the huge difference between the picture around and the inner state. Total alienation and dissociation between what you see (total beauty) and how it felt. First of all, it showed that there is no safe space inside you.
In these photos, I captured my friend Maria that came to the residence straightforwardly from Mykolaiv (heavily bombed and massively destroyed by Russia). After the residence, she came back home where she is now actively volunteering.
