RAW POWER

RAW POWER is an ongoing project by photographer Tatsuo Suzuki, exploring human energy through street photography and portraiture. Focusing on moments of release and physical contact, it examines the raw vitality at the core of human existence.

RAW POWER is a personal documentary project I am currently working on. Through street photography and portraiture, I attempt to visualize the fundamental energy of life and humanity.

This work follows my 2024 project, “The Sound of Waves.” In that work, I used water as a central motif to reflect on the cycle of life, the fragility and strength of existence, and to process the emotional regeneration I experienced after personal loss.

With RAW POWER, I have pushed these questions further. I focus more directly on the raw vitality of human life, developing the work into a more stripped-down and primitive form of expression. The spirit of punk rock, which forms part of my cultural roots, is strongly present in this project. I’m drawn to moments of unleashed impulse and physical contact.

In April 2025, I created a zine dummy of the project to accompany a solo exhibition in Koenji, Tokyo. I am now in the process of expanding the content to more than double in page count, restructuring it into a full photobook. This submission presents the project in its current, evolving form.

This dummy was first produced as a zine for a solo exhibition in Koenji, Tokyo, in April 2025. It is currently being expanded into a full photobook with more than twice the number of pages. This submission presents the project in its ongoing state.
