"Sometimes when I am working on my motorcycle, I am working on myself"

Motorcycle culture is known for its bad boys, the outlaws, the people who don't care about the rules. That became the norm from which everything else was perceived. "Queer Bikers" explores a different side of motorcycle culture: the safe haven it has created for LGBTQ+ throughout the years.

For several riders, motorcycles were a way to find community. Coming out came with a sense of belonging somewhere else and a way to release traumas sometimes experienced at home. Self-expression was not only well received but also celebrated. In "queer bikers," we let go of toxic masculinity known in motorcycle culture and embrace the freedom two wheels gives to queer folk.
