What is the ritual that accompanies us throughout our lives and serves as a constant reminder of our place in the world?

In 2018, I started collecting passport photos, aiming to acquire 365 of them, one for each day of the year. The idea is to demonstrate how we are constantly required to be recognizable in the world around us. Once we are born, we must periodically provide a photograph for identification purposes every few years. Our personal details are not enough. In most cases, documents must be accompanied by photos showing how we look at a certain point in our lives.

Over the years, the methods have changed and been repeated. First, we went to photographers; then, we used special machines; and now, we have many options. The objective remains constant: to offer, on a recurring basis, visual proof of our appearance.

"Quando sei nato non puoi più nasconderti" (When You Are Born, You Can No Longer Hide) aims to show the results of a ritual that accompanies all stages of our lives.
