Photographers in the Wild

A study of the photographer as athlete, contortionist, and accidental comedian.

As a photographer, in my search for the right angle, I often end up in some very questionable positions without realizing. Crouching, stretching, climbing, balancing, these moments never make it into the final image.

Using behind-the-scenes evidence, I was inspired to create a series that explores these poses taken in pursuit of the shot, and to celebrate the messy, physical, and occasionally ridiculous side of image-making. Behind every “effortless” photograph is a photographer willing to bend, wobble, and laugh at themselves—if that’s what it takes to get the frame.
