Project Personal Autonomy captures maternity and the ever-changing nature of my relationship with my growing daughter, husband and father, framed by cyclical returns to my own childhood.
Personal autonomy is the ability to make decisions for oneself and carry out one’s life, often regardless of specific moral content. But how can we judge whether our decisions are always correct? Can we just throw the original negatives in the trash and forget?
Applied to photography, it means that people have the right to decide whether they want to be photographed.
In my photographs, project Personal Autonomy I try to capture maternity and the ever-changing nature of my relationship with my growing daughter, husband and father, framed by cyclical returns to my own childhood. Personal Autonomy is based on mutual participants observation and informal conversations.
Hence, my work is deeply rooted in childhood flashbacks and experiences from living abroad with my parents. ome” by confronting unprocessed moments of personal, family, and collective memory.
