“People in the dunes” project focuses on the people relations with environment in Bolderaja district which is located in the periphery of the Riga city, few kilometres away from Gulf of Riga.

“People in the dunes” project focuses on the people relations with environment in Bolderaja district which is located in the periphery of the Riga city, few kilometres away from Gulf of Riga. After World War II fishing villages build on the dunes were replaced with blockhouses and some of Bolderāja parts became closed military area. Now 23 years have passed, but It’s mainly Russian-speaking population is still haunted by shadows of a Soviet past.

They are living in poor conditions divided from other parts of the city by rivers, forests and the Baltic sea.
