These are diptychs; visual conversations between images. They are meant to incite thoughtful discussions - touching on the visual music of spirit and emotions that connect us.
Spoken Words
like knives slice the air quickly.
A million slight paper cuts
scatter scars; pink.
staining skin and internal organs.
Daily,
searching for new language.
Can we lift the conversation?
Open words into Poems.
Passing notes,
Paper thin.
Delicate.
Emotions.
Light.
Words become knives and fear becomes a habit in the stonework of who we are, creating victims on all sides. We lose our skills for compassion and dispassionate dialogue.
The gift of my birth was being born in the fifties in the cradle of the Hawaiian Islands. Customarily holding differences like facets of the same gem, our mother culture taught us to bask in disparities. We were multiple and diverse musical instruments, playing in the same marching band.
Here, reaching for new songs and bigger, yet delicate conversations; I am passing notes.
