Parvardá

Inspired by a childhood ritual of making sweets, Parvardá reflects on identity as something continuously shaped by memory and human encounters.

Parvardá is named after a traditional Central Asian sweet that I made with my great-aunt as a child. During its preparation, coloured sugar was repeatedly stretched and folded until individual colours dissolved into a single mass. This process became the central metaphor of the series. Fragmented photographs of intertwined female bodies echo the transformation of the candy, suggesting that identity is not fixed but continuously formed through memory, intimacy, conflict, and encounters with others. Like the layers of coloured sugar, personal experience gradually blends into a whole that can no longer be separated into its original parts.
