Only The Sea Knows

"Only The Sea Knows" is an ongoing project which documents the life of a group of young kids who live in a small village close Malindi. Their life reminds to me the relationship between life and death

"Every aspect of our life reflects the life cycle. We wake up in the morning and the water of the sea gets down, we protect the fishes which are arrived close to the cost in the morning. We capture them and then we bring them in higher water far from the cost. We find the rests from big fishes which have been caught by local fishermen and we feed the small fishes with their parts.

We keep them alive.

We are like these little fishes, we have been abandoned by our parents and then we have been safed by our uncle who bring us to live with him. We moved away with him on a small boat far way from the troubles.

We spend all the time in the beach we play, we swim and we try to look through the horizon and to think where this sea will bring us in our future life."
