Olympus is a very special project for me. It's my own take on the Greek Myths which has taken over three years to complete. Each model and I worked together to really tell a story with each character. This project was shot entirely on 35mm film.

Olympus- The Story of The Goddesses, and Other Powerful Deities, is a project that has taken me over 3 years to complete. With tensions in the world being so high, and divisions being so deep, I wanted to create a project that was a safe space for people to escape from the chaos of everyday life and feel more connected with their inner self. As someone whose Yaya is an immigrant from Greece, Greek mythology is something that has always been of special interest to me. Reading Greek mythology as a child was a way for me to feel connected to my roots, as well as a way for me to escape into a fantasy world. Now as an adult, I wanted to achieve that same comfort and childlike wonder while also inviting others into that space to experience the same. I craved a space where people could feel powerful, ethereal, weightless. After all, loving yourself and reclaiming your power is the most incredible act of defiance one can accomplish in this modern society. Representing these myths in a way where people could dive deep into themselves and find strength within was important to me. I wanted everyone to feel seen, heard, and represented. I chose models who I thought would best be able to express the overall feeling of each story.  Once on set, I asked each model to let the energy flow through them and really encompass each character. I didn’t want to direct the poses too much as I thought it was fundamental for everyone to truly dive into their roles in their own ways and unleash the Goddess hidden inside them. 3 years, an uncountable amount of 35mm film, and 24 myths later, I’m excited to have seen this project come to life.
