Nostalgia in the Middle East

Nostalgia in the Middle East tackles the lingering melancholy that children of the “balad” feel upon leaving their home country, meant to tackle the constant urge to seek out all that has been lost in that time away.

Throughout my time abroad and away from home, I have gone through periods in which I have waxed and waned from homesickness and not. There were days in which part of me didn’t mind being away from friends and family, and that didn’t mind giving up all that I had known. Other days were spent bedridden, consumed by the guilt of having left and losing a part of myself that I hadn’t even recognized to exist. And so, through this feeling of never belonging there nor here, I wanted to expose myself to the people of Lebanon, and embrace said Nostalgia by capturing moments that gave me the same warm feeling of childhood. Fortunately, I doubt this would be a series that would ever end.
