Better to be with, get closer, to the people who are on limited time, than to be filled with regrets when that person is no longer of this world.

NOTE: This is a video submission, not a photo submission, but this webpage won't let me advance unless I add an image to the "Insert here images from your submission" field (which does NOT allow me to insert a video link, so I'm adding the link in this "explanatory" field); the photo that you see on this page is a still from one of the videos (although it was edited out in the final cut of the video; I'm not sure why the photo that I inserted as the photo to associate with my submission is not showing here; apologies for not being as tech savvy as I should be in this day and age).

no regrets and its sequel are short videos of imagery that have been many years in the making because it is only through the passage of time that the portrayal of the slow but steady decline of an Alzheimer patient can be captured as life teeters on the edge of physical and mental breakdown. (Albeit the sequel focuses more on the joy one can get regardless of the progress of the disease.)

The imagery in these videos are visually altered to present posterized patches of colors and scenes with rocking motions or jitteriness that cumulatively allow the viewer to get a sense of the otherworldliness that someone with dementia might have. This subject matter is inescapable for us all—we must all contend with the process of aging and the possible diagnosis of dementia either in ourselves or for those around us. The implications, of course, can be expanded to those who are involved with debilitating accidents or diseases, young or old, who will need care or companionship.

How to avoid what could be a lifelong rehashing of regrets, sadness and despair that is guaranteed to manifest after the death of a loved one, can be found in these videos—cautionary tales advocating for us all to get closer to those individuals, benefiting them and us.
