No Le Digas Al Abuelo (Don't Tell Grampa)

For as long as I can remember, my father has told stories, and I listen. For as long as I can remember, my grandfather and the anecdotes surrounding him represent the repetition of violence.

No le digas al abuelo is part of a larger body of work that centers on the continuity and interruption of family patterns.

Oral family stories set the framework for this project as I reconstruct and recode my way of remembrance. This I do, in part, by questioning and repositioning myself within my family’s and my own life’s story. I trace the underlying currents behind my archival and personal material to create a space of intimacy and reflection.
