Night fairy tales

Tales of many different cultures describe how the forest absorbs children generously and yet releases them reluctantly. There children are resembling ghosts, alone and lorn they wander through darkness, their faces barely noticeable.

As an artist, I try to find the space between the real and the imaginary using wildlife as my theme. I reflect on the problem of the spectator's vision and perception, complex relations between viewer and a picture.I am interested in showing scenes that could happen in real lifeby means of set-up photography. It is important for me to keep spectator’s attention, to arouse his imagination and make him believe in what he sees.I am attracted to the theme of nature and its mystification, to discover a new reality in forests during the night.Invisible parts of the woods, human figures and other objects appear in short flashes of light and vanish again. The atmosphere of things, which are hidden in the dark, brings a glaze of mystery to this workThe children in the series “Night fairy tales” are like ghosts, they wander alone through darkness, their faces barely noticeable. These fairy tales belong to everybody’s childhood memories, our inner traces of ancient fears and hopes. They are on the line between imagination and reality, and only a spectator can define this border.
