This photo project is about women from Cambodia. It has been the subject of a photo exhibition in the city of Kampot, South Cambodia. "ម្តាយខ្ញុំ Mak Khnom" means "My Mother" in Khmer.

Why call this photo series "My Mother"? Because the women shown on the pictures are certainly all mothers, even the younger ones. By saying "my" I wanted to introduce both notions of universality and proximity, I wanted to feel close to the subjects of the pictures, even if a culture, a country, a language, separates us.

These women are working at the crab market in Kep, near the sea. It's a very inspiring and a lively place full of fresh seafood and people constantly running around. The colors there are incredible, it's a true photographer's dream. Most of the women working at the market wear fake brands clothes and it's what caught my attention at first. Chanel, Gucci, Fendi, Versace are written on many of their colorful hats, shirts, pyjamas...

More than just capturing the clothes, I wanted to capture these women's strength and beauty, highlighted by the morning's fiery glow.
