A meditation on presence and absence, memory and return. Fragments of what cannot be held. the Return to a familiar landscape, where the past and present quietly overlap, and where watching someone grow away becomes an encounter with one’s own.
This project is a meditation on presence and absence, memory and return, and the quiet transformations that unfold through motherhood.
After many years living in the United States, I returned to my motherland, Argentina, carrying with me both the distance of time and the memory of the place I had left behind. Returning became a way of confronting the space between who I was and who I have become, and between the landscape I remembered and the one I found again.
At the center of the work is motherhood and the experience of watching my children grow away from me. Their gradual movement toward independence has made me increasingly aware of my own transformation: I am still myself, yet I am no longer the woman I was before becoming a mother.
The photographs inhabit this space between holding and letting go. They are fragments moments that are already becoming memory. Through them, I explore the parallels between returning to a homeland and returning to oneself, knowing that neither can ever be exactly as it was.
