Moon in Gemini

Moon in Gemini is a book that represent a part of 20 years of my practice. My aim is to write with images, to build fiction with elements found in the everyday life, to compose a non linear narrative, to push limits of meaning, to create poetry.

Moon in Gemini is a poetry book written with images, where everyday life and its different aspects are the inspiration and the "materia prima".

In this edition I mix different types of images in order to create a rhythm that mimics the frenzy of everyday life. Some points attract me in this daily effervescence, such as ; landscapes, identities, bodies, rituals, shapes, colors, as well as the freedom, the power, the pleasure and the pain of being present.

The double pages tell stories that coexist and co-act with each other in the sequence, as well as celestial bodies that align in space. Like an astrological birth chart.

This series of images was produced over 20 years of photographic practice. The stages of my method are harvesting, defining a title, sequencing and editing.

The title "Moon in Gemini" calls upon the characteristic traits of a person born under this astrological conjecture. A restless mind, overflowing with ideas and a complex duality on the emotional level.

This tension and complexity are found in the series of images and pushed to their limits. Doubt turns into freedom, the promiscuity between the photographs into semantics.

I open fictional doors with keys found in everyday reality. I stage this poetic language where I allow myself associations that most of the time defy the linear narrative meaning between the images. In this semic architecture I adopt temporal, spatial or formal elements that punctuate, serve as leitmotiv or unravel the mind.

A story that ends at the beginning, begins in the middle and evolves at its end.
