Context: In 2022, Ciudad Juárez witnessed the formation of migrant camps, primarily composed of families from Venezuela and other Central American countries. In this setting, children found themselves in a perplexing reality, not fully comprehending their situation. Organizations mobilized to provide support, offering classes and recreational activities to alleviate the experiences of these young migrants.

Photographic Initiative: As a photojournalist, a unique initiative emerged: providing analog cameras to the children. These youngsters, now photographers of their own surroundings, enthusiastically documented significant moments, expressing their unique perspectives on migration through photography.

Project Objective: The "Migrating Unaware" project aims to transform the captured images into a visual expression that delves into the children's migratory experience. The goal is not merely to document but also to convey the reality of these young migrants in an authentic and poignant manner.

Project Phases:

  • Selection and Editing of Photographs: A careful selection of images capturing the essence of the children's migratory experience will be undertaken. Editing will focus on highlighting the authenticity and emotional depth of the photographs.

  • Visual Narrative: Through the composition and sequence of images, a visual narrative will be constructed to immerse viewers in the emotional journey of these children, from uncertainty to hope.

  • Dissemination and Awareness: The images will be showcased in various cultural and community spaces, leveraging collaborations with local organizations and media to amplify awareness of the reality of child migration. The project aims to provoke reflection and generate empathy through an itinerant exhibition.
