Methexis - Ways and places of prayer Etymology: ancient Greek methexis < verb metecho = to be part in something, to be part of a whole Metaphorically: contact, communication, participation, connection, spiritual meeting, union.
“Methexis” is an ethnological and folkloric journey through different countries, ethnics, religions, tribes, sexes, ages, cultures and traditions. Α constant movement between coordinates and geographical quadrants all over the world. An attempt at contact with special individual moments and personal lonely pathways.
“Methexis” is the essence of security, tranquility, internalization, the meditative line with the small ego, a silent prayer, the feeling of familiar and similar in different cultures, the holy place and the slow sense of time. Our home can be a worship place and a way of prayer.
“Methexis” is the home of a personal testimony to the common fragile human nature. I choose the subject by drawing material from my emotional repositories, wondering around the world and trying to imprint spirituality with my camera. With my photographs I am trying not only to record reality, but also to capture the sentiments and the atmosphere.
“Methexis” is the home of the positive side of prayer in the daily life of many people regardless of origin, as a confirmation of the universality of human nature. In ceremonies or small practices. Individual or as a group prayer. Meditation or confession. Pilgrimage or vow. With hymns or recitation. Silent or with psalms. By reading sacred texts or as a spontaneous verbal formulation. Perhaps your most lonely moment that you would like to share with everyone.
