Mass Consumption

Mass Consumption is a documentary photography project examining the overwhelming abundance of mass-produced products at the point of sale — grocery stores, big-box retailers, and food markets.

Mass Consumption is a documentary photography project examining the overwhelming abundance of mass-produced products at the point of sale — grocery stores, big-box retailers, and food markets. Through these images, I explore the visual language of contemporary consumer culture and the systems that sustain it.

I remain fascinated by modern society’s ability to deliver enormous quantities of relatively safe and accessible food to millions of people each day across the world. At the same time, I am deeply disturbed by the ongoing realities of food insecurity and scarcity that continue to affect underserved communities, including many within developed nations.

My hope is that these photographs encourage viewers to look more closely at the contradictions between abundance and need, and that they serve as a catalyst for conversations about access, equity, and the global distribution of food and resources.
