Last Farewell

This series is my personal farewell to my aunt. After her death, I inherited her dresses, which I photographed to become her final trace and my tribute. After the photos, I let them go – burning them, giving memory and meaning back to where it belongs.

This photography series is a personal farewell and tribute to my aunt. She was a woman who loved clothing and expressed herself through it. I once told her that I would photograph her in her outfits - a dream that never came true during her lifetime.

My aunt passed away this year, in June. After her death, I inherited her dresses. I tried them on - they all fit perfectly. Yet I didn’t feel I could remain in them or keep them for longer. I knew I had to find another way to preserve their presence.

A few months after her death, I decided to photograph these clothes so they could become her final trace and, at the same time, my last farewell. After taking the photos, I let them go - just as she had left - burning them and giving her memory back.

These clothes were more than fabric. They were a testament to her femininity, a way of being, expressing herself, and being present in the world. The photographs are therefore not only a document but also a form of ritual passage - a story about women, memory, and the bonds that connect us.
