Land of the Morees

"Land of the Morees" offers a captivating and intimate portrayal of daily life in a small fishing community on the outskirts of Accra, Ghana, providing a unique cinematic snapshot of the intricacies and nuances of this vibrant community.

In the charming coastal town of Moree, Ghana's Historic Fishing Capital, a warm welcome sign reads "Welcome to Moree, Glana's Historic Fishing Capital. City of Light". This vibrant community thrives on the shores, where children help with the daily catch, teenage boys enjoy the ocean, fishermen work day in day out, and locals showcase their unique sense of style. Through my lens, I aim to illuminate the lives of the Moreesians with sensitivity and depth, celebrating the beauty of their daily lives.

Capturing the essence of this hidden gem; Land of the Morees is a continuous body of work inviting you into a captivating world of exploring a unique ecosystem, a place that has truly stolen my heart. I feel fortunate to have discovered this place back in 2022, where I documented a number of images, and I'm thrilled to have returned to continue the journey after my debut solo show in 2024. The beach and fishing communities have always held a special place in my heart since my childhood days.

These photographs capture a rare, intimate quality that transcends time and space, evoking powerful emotions and bridging distances, a testament to the genuine affection I have for the people and place of Moree, making each image truly magical.
