Kaleidoscope: The Masks We Wear is a bold, personal photo series exploring identity and the layers we hide behind. Blending fine art with surreal, stylized imagery, it reflects my vision of finding strength in vulnerability and beauty in what’s concealed.

About the Book

Kaleidoscope: The Masks We Wear is one of the most meaningful and transformative works of my career. It’s a fine art visual narrative that explores the metaphorical masks we wear—socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

This project is the result of a three-year collaboration with Danish soft sculptor Stine Leth, who created the tactile masks and soft objects featured throughout the work. Together, we constructed a surreal visual world rooted in symbolism, vulnerability, and layered identity.

The photographs draw from fashion, editorial, and fine art photography to form a cinematic and introspective body of work. This book moves between aesthetic and emotion—inviting the viewer to question what is shown and what is hidden.

Structured into four thematic chapters, the book mirrors a psychological and emotional arc. Full-bleed color and black-and-white images are punctuated with translucent pages—offering metaphorical “breaths” between moments of intensity.

The narrative moves from concealment, to confrontation, and ultimately to clarity—a journey reflective of the human experience and my own path as a Black artist, a creative, and above all, a father.
