I've always wanted to be a mom

This series is a personal project that explores the complex and diverse journey of motherhood from the loss of a child to going through IVF.

The journey to motherhood isn’t an easy path. While for some couples it comes very easily, for others there are many roadblocks along the way.

When me and my husband started trying for a baby, never in our lives would we have thought it would have taken this route.

We lived from the highest to the lowest moments of our lives, from learning that I was pregnant to the loss of our child by having to make the hardest choice of terminating the pregnancy due to a genetic problem.

A few months later, we embarked upon a new journey, this time through IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) in the hopes of finally becoming parents while breaking the cycle of transmitting the gene that already had caused us so much pain.

Through my photographs, I aim to invite viewers to explore the complex and diverse journey that is motherhood.

This series is a very personal project that addresses the profound emptiness left by the loss of a child, but also the resilience, the deep desire to have a child despite the loss and the uncertainty that the future may bring.

By sharing my own testimony, I'm putting into images what people go through in the IVF process, a difficult journey that is still hardly talked about today. Through this series, I also hope to invite viewers to explore the complex and diverse journey that is motherhood.
