Night in the Burrow

Into the Burrows Festival 2025

A site-responsive lighting installation created for Into the Burrows, a three-day music festival set in the woodland outskirts of London. Approached to transform two separate areas of the site, the project focused on building atmosphere and offering moments of calm within the energy of the festival.

The first space was developed as a dedicated chill-out zone - a soft, immersive environment where festival-goers could slow down and reset near the main stage. Suspended lighting was woven through the trees, gently illuminating hammocks and creating a sense of warmth and quiet intimacy within the forest canopy.

The second installation centred around a hand-built den constructed from natural materials found on-site. Using branches and sticks, we created an organic structure with small, enclosed nooks. Each space was subtly lit with low, ambient lamps, encouraging people to gather, rest, and explore the tactile, shelter-like environment hidden in the woods.

Across both areas, the lighting design prioritised softness, warmth, and integration with the natural surroundings - enhancing the landscape rather than overpowering it. The project aimed to create a contrast to the main stages, offering a comfy and atmospheric experience within the festival.
