IT WAS A LIE (ERA MENTIRA)

The project talks about generating a fiction from another fiction. After discovering a film in which my parents participated when they were very young, I generate my own film designing a scenography in which my parents are the protagonists.

PROJECT MEMORY

The finding of a box with negatives, a suitcase and an old eight millimeter film leads me to stories unknown to me. I discover a movie in which my parents acted when very young. They are pieces of a past that belongs to them; before my existence.

I go through my father’s files. I come across pictures that were never developed. I search for clues.
I immersed myself in the lab for a year, diving into an unknown time and, from there on, I take their lives and turn them into fiction; I enter the scene.

Who are these people?

The figure of my mother appears distant, almost foreign. I approach her from the outside; I look deep into her eyes. I recognize her again.

I fracture time and space and create a new scenario, where my mother and I, free from distance and absence, come back together.

Truth, like memory, is an artifice, a creation. What I remenber now is this fantasy.

In addition to the photos, I have created an audiovisual piece about the project, which you can see here:

I would like to be able to promote my project with an exhibition complemented by a photobook of which I have designed the model and can be seen in the following link:
