Interwoven

"Interwoven" is a work that emerged from my observations and deep reflections on the relationships between humans and nature, influenced by my experiences living in Japan, Australia, and currently in the United States. This project explores the delicate balance between humans and nature, and how that balance begins to unravel. Specifically, it examines how the unseen reality of climate change has been impacting this relationship, bringing changes to our environment and social structures, expressed through a mix of realism and metaphor.

Our social and economic activities are deeply embedded within the natural systems, and we cannot ignore the fact that we are part of this structure. However, the realization that the waste chemicals from the film, development, and darkroom processes used in my work contribute to environmental damage led me to recognize that I, too, am a part of this "dominant" side. This recognition plays a central role in my artistic practice, shaping the complex relationship between creation and destruction, progress and regression.

This work is not just a commentary on environmental issues; it raises profound questions about the relationship between humans and nature. Should we not, instead of dominating and exploiting nature, blend with it and coexist on equal terms? Through the work, I observe and express how our actions impact nature and how we can reduce those impacts while striving for a more sustainable and harmonious coexistence.
