First iteration of series dedicated to the American maverick
Jackson Pollock's signature drip technique is not immediately fruitful in this series, because its closest formal photographic equivalent, light art, is more concerned with spontaneous movement than with deliberate sedimentation and stratification. These two qualities are instead transfigured into post-processing, where the physical action of drip-painting becomes the mental action of recursive-sedimentative post-processing.
Aside from the painter, the series takes secondary influences from the aesthetics and principles of Austrian action artist Hermann Nitsch and Swedish multidisciplinary artist Martin Bladh.
