My research explores how the GDPR, which mandates consent for data collection, might affect street photography in the EU. If photographing strangers without consent is restricted, what can photographers capture?

My research focuses on the impact of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on street photography. The GDPR mandates that personal information can only be collected with the user's consent, and the purpose of the data collection must be explained to the user. This regulation applies in the European Union and also extends to the field of street photography, which is quite surprising. Strictly adhering to these rules would raise questions about the practice of street photography. While there have not been any prominent cases of photographers violating the GDPR, I was thinking about the potential consequences of this regulation.

Imagine if you can't capture a stranger on a street, what will be left in the frame?

Medium: analog photography and collage with excerpts from the GDPR.
