Impeded Stream

Impeded Stream was photographed on the day a barn was torn down. This barn was the first barn built on this farm over 150 years ago. In this work, I am exploring the abstraction of time and memory.

These photographs are from a body of work I am making as a way to understand the constant changes from within an internal and exterior landscape. Slowing down the speed at which the soil is tossed through the air, freeing it of possession like birds, air, and sky. The memories of what was is caught in a loop of loss and grief for that time that is now gone. The quiet fall of the barn as the dust rises creates a new place, a memory, a transformation, and then the world begins again anew. Yet the memory of the barn that stood there... a yearning.
