I AM DARIO

Gianluca was born in Turin in 1977. Lives in Rome. He studies and the comparison with Italian and foreign photographers and photo editors, have enabled him to understand what he was really interested in telling and to mature his own idea of photography. He has exhibited in several in photo festival.

This is a project that I developed in about two years and half. Is an intimate portrait of the life of a boy who lives and works in Rome, in the east quadrant, where the photos have been taken mainly. Dario is a boy of 30 years now, but a photo of the selection shows him at 25, that works in a bingo hall at Torpignattara, a working class borough. At the same time he attends and works in some of the underground LGBT clubs, but above all plays his cards to have success as a singer. To me the project on Dario has been a chance to tell about part of underground and LGBT scene of Rome that usually is not seen in the media. At the same time this story works as metaphor of the Life. Everyone of us have dreams and struggle to realize his own dreams. Most often people do not realize their dreams but we live in the tension, in the idea of realize them, exactly as Dario does.
