Grant me the Serenity is a character study set in the remote mountains of Tasmania documenting an enigmatic and creative individual.

Grant me the Serenity is a character study set in the remote mountains of western lutruwita/Tasmania documenting Peter, an enigmatic and creative individual who migrated to the area four years ago.

Peter lives on the cusp of change both in his personal life and amongst the social and environmental developments that play out within the landscape that he inhabits. The tethering of humanity to the environment raises the proposition of the material and immaterial nature of place whilst examining themes of isolation, relationships and escapism.

This series stems from an interest in interrogating the intersection of the human condition with the land and examining the impacts of anthropological forces on the corporeal setting. The intention of this work is an attempt to reveal the influences the physical expanse has on the seclusion of the human condition. It could also be argued that the natural and forced tension in the landscape plays out against the collective psyche of the island state’s inhabitants.
