"Grande Vizinho Pequeno"

Ipatinga is a city that typically grew up around Usiminas. To get out of what everyone knows I chose to go to the rural area of the city, Ipaneminha.

Ipatinga is a city known for its great neighbor, Usiminas. Most people link the name of the city to the name of the industry and some visitors even get scared when they realize that the city has grown up around the steel industry.

To get out of what everyone expects to be portrayed, I chose to spend a day in the countryside of the city, Ipaneminha. A little big neighbor, or a big little neighbor.

I had the opportunity to spend a few moments with a couple who had their house built with the help of the residents of the region, who survive on subsistence agriculture. To cross the stream that passes on the property, they improvised a bridge with the rest of a door.

We who are used to photography, and because of technology, we forget how important the photographic record is so that the family's legacy can be carried on to future generations. And how simple polaroid photography can make all the difference in someone's life.
