This project is about a one-and-a-half-month road trip with five girls I met when I travel. Together, we piled into an old Jetta and set off to explore the borderlands of Yunnan Province, China.

While traveling alone in Yunnan, I met a group of women from different backgrounds. We were strangers, but something unspoken connected us. On impulse, we decided to embark on this road trip, we drive through national highways and winding rural roads, stopping in small-town motels to rest. Along the way, we faced all kinds of challenges—some funny, some tough. What started as a trip with strangers turned into a story about friendship, trust, and the kind of freedom you only find on the road.

Each of us carried something unresolved when we get off the road. But rather than escape, we found a way to exist within our own skins, shaped by the rhythm of the journey. Our road trip is a way of healing. We experience it in quiet ways—through presence, through care, through the simple act of moving forward together. These photographs document that feeling. A reminder that we were here, that our bodies took up space, that for a brief moment, the borderlands belonged to us.
