Embodied Experience is an ongoing series of nude portrait collage cyanotypes representing my personal struggle of being born with a female body, wanting an equal, autonomous, body positive life, & the realization none of that is possible in this lifetime.
Embodied Experience: HUQ I Seek No Favor is an ongoing series of nude portrait collage cyanotypes representing my personal struggle of being born with a female body, wanting an equal, autonomous, body positive life, & the realization none of that is possible in this lifetime. Inspired by Barbara Kruger, Anna Atkins, Robert Mapplethorpe, these pieces are constructed using photographic practices on a continuum using historical photographic practices all the way up to digital photographs and digital negatives. These digital photographs are composites of birth control pills, nude self portraits, etc are converted into large format digital negatives (8.5x11 up to 36"x60"), and composited and then collaged with symbols of womanhood such as pregnancy sticks, condoms, etc... made into cyanotype images made with the sun and water, and are presented mixed with testimonial experiences in text and audio.
