Difesa Grande - (Great Defense)

After living and working in Brazil for 7 years, I came back in June 202 to my hometown, Termoli, a little town near the Adriatic coast.

The series “Difesa Grande” (Great Defense) borrows its name from the borough (neighbourhood) I was born and I grew up in.

The initial idea of the project was to come back to places and people of my childhood with my new me, until the 17th of October Both my parents were hospitalised for having contracted covid 19 and the project moved along with the changes.

For 3 never ending weeks my brothers, my grandmother and I lived unsure of what it would have come next.

My mother was in a coma in the same room where my father was. He died on the 6th of November at 5 pm.

After 5months in a hospital my mother came back home.

Nel giugno 2020, dopo aver vissuto e lavorato per 7 anni in Brasile (San Paolo), sono tornata a vivere a Termoli, cittadina adriatica della provincia di Campobasso, Molise.

La serie di fotografie Difesa Grande prende il titolo dal quartiere in cui sono nata e cresciuta. Inizialmente l’intenzione del progetto era quella di rivisitare i luoghi e le persone della mia infanzia fino a quando il 17 ottobre 2020 entrambi i miei genitori sono stati ricoverati in ospedale dopo aver contratto il Covid-19.

Per 3 lunghe settimane io, i miei due fratelli e mia nonna abbiamo vissuto nell’incertezza e su quello che sarebbe stato. Mia madre era in coma nella stessa stanza di terapia intensiva di mio padre quando il 6 novembre alle 17:00 è morto.

Dopo 5 mesi, nel febbraio 2021 mia madre è tornata a casa.
