Visual representation of a mother son relationship
This story is a reflection of my current relationship with my mother, presented through a multi-layered visual perspective. Being away from home for more than six years has given me the space to evolve my perspective on home, my mother, and nature. It's a journey of becoming a son.
Through this body of work, I aim to capture the complexity created by memories, dreams, expectations, and responsibilities. I constantly question myself, seeking to understand the truth hidden beneath the surface layer. As a son, I share the story of my mother, who migrated from Bangladesh to India after marriage, sacrificing her own wishes and dreams to provide a better future for our family.
Within this body of work, I have created a portrayal of the intricate corners of my mind where childhood memories reside. The memories are dominated by the blurred face of a young lady, the early morning songs emanating from the kitchen, and the image of a hardworking woman. Each memory carries its own distinct emotion, although I acknowledge that these emotions are not always genuine and can be influenced by my current privileges.
Amidst the memories, there are echoes of unfinished dreams and aspirations for the future. When I add the weight of reality and responsibility to this complexity, it only leads to more open-ended questions. It feels like venturing into a dark winter forest where my own shadow becomes obscured. Through this body of work, my intention is to take viewers on a journey through my thought process.
