The project explores and questions how mandatory lockdown in Argentina might be affecting us and what are people´s mental resources for navigating these unprecedented times.
Surreal is now a term to navigate this new reality where we are deprived of what we´ve been considering some of our basic rights. Closeness, laugh and joy are now health hazards. "Dear Diary: in the times of Corona" explores the feelings, emotions, psychological effects and needs caused by what is now the longest mandatory lockdown that a country is experiencing due to COVID-19.
Seven months and counting in Argentina since the borders closed, schools shut down and the economy is facing its worst.
Programmes on tv recommend activities such as "learn to bake sourdough bread", "what to watch on netflix during lockdown" and "buy the latest cleaning appliances for making it easier at home" while femicides grow in number and we are reaching a 10-year high under lockdown.
In this proyect I question myself over and over on how we can cope with our own minds to navigate through this unprecedented times. Are we only safe in our minds? are we using our minds as a resource to empower ourselves or for fantasizing about a dreamy scape?
