Costumi Postumi

Costumi Postumi is an ode to our churches, to the sanctuaries that forged us. Places of peace and contemplation, of rumble and freedom. Where the boundary between man and Nature often blurs, and the mystery of the world is still accessible.

During the summer of 2022, I returned to northern Italy after 15 years of living abroad. I soon began documenting the river culture of my native land, the Trebbia Valley.

These pictures are meant to be a testimony to a small, primordial reality. A corner of the Apennines that escapes history, resisting the collapse of modernity and the slow destruction of the
wild world. It is a journey into untouched wonder, a memory crystallized in time: an Italian summer whose contours I can no longer discern as real or dreamed. And yet, it remains deeply meaningful — to our land, to our stories, and to the collective unconscious we share.
