Chronic Victim

A work in progress, the artist expands her interest in bodies through specific sites. Marks left in those specific sites and scars on bodies are linked up through black-and-white photographs.

Chronic Victim is a continuation of the artist’s past work where she tried to face the lingering traces of violence left on her body through the lens of a camera. Through space, the work expresses traumatic memories regarding bodies and sensations that can’t be articulated. The artist looks carefully into marks (scars) left in motels and abandoned buildings in South Korea that couldn’t be erased properly. Memories and dreams that were fragmented without being recorded, trauma-laden spaces that only exist in imaginations, and self-portraits of the artist are captured through black-and-white photographs.
