Forest management, presence of the wolf, free evolution of the environment, economic promotion: deep disagreements cross the rural world of the middle mountains that is the Vercors (a famous french natural parc).
This documentary work focuses on the different relationships to nature that the inhabitants of the same territory maintain; on their relationship to the living and to non-humans.
Here are the places: a regional natural park to safeguard the largest terrestrial nature reserve in France while developing its territory. And here are the characters: citizens who buy forests left to evolve freely, naturalists who have become masters in rewilding by the return of extinct species, hunters, foresters and farmers who defend a way of life that they deem necessary and legitimate: logging, hunting, grazing...
The whole thing takes place under the eyes of an attentive public, partly composed of a traditional rural population, and neo-rurals in search of a “healthy” nature and a peaceful social climate.
Photographer: I survey, I take portraits and interviews, I draw up a subjective inventory of what nature "represents" or is worth, or offers for everyone, non-humans included.
