AMAZIGH

Tattooing has always been a custom among Amazigh women in Morocco, whether as an ornamental, to express a feeling or symbolize a social status by dissociating and identifying members of different tribes by drawings or often on the face , with very geometric characteristics and supposedly magical virtues. Every detail, every motif has its own symbolism. Thus, to represent this sign on oneself is to attract what it symbolizes. most often they recall a rite where the Amazigh woman remembers the means of attack and defense to preserve her happiness and Schematic reminders of the life and worries of an Amazigh woman in his household, they are intended to remind him all the magical and superstitious rites which may, according to their beliefs, render them happy or unhappy. A coded and mysterious language, which women pass on from generation to generation to express all phases of their lives and the stages of their personal experience. In Amazigh culture, the woman is assimilated to a "living sanctuary". She is the pillar of society. It represents the tribe, the tribal life and bearer of traditions and all cultural identity. The tattoo, allow to identify its tribal and geographical origin.

This project was born initially by a personal need, that of my identity and my Amazigh culture, I grew up in a family where the symbols and Amazigh signs were very present in the family. I was always fascinated by the forms and beauty of Amazigh symbols and the curiosity to know their senses. The revisited Amazigh series compiles both the symbols and the body that is naturally evident in this research process
